INDEPENDENCE, Ore. (AP) - Skeletal remains have been found on a small island in the Willamette River between Salem and Independence.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a report of the discovered remains at about noon Sunday. The remains are human, and detectives asked anyone with information about a missing person to contact Detective Mike Myers with (503) 540-8007.
