Two dead after bizarre series of events
By KATU Web StaffPORTLAND, Ore. - Two people are dead following an apparent murder and an officer-involved shooting Tuesday night in northeast Portland. Portland police have released few details but said they responded to a call from a woman who said she witnessed a murder. The call came in at about 10:30 p.m.When police went to a residence near the intersection of Northeast 90th Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street, they said they were met by a man brandishing a gun and had no choice but to fire. The man died at the scene, and police recovered the weapon. Portland SERT members searching the area eventually found a body. Fire crews were also called to the area, but there is no confirmation that a fire was involved. Northeast Glisan Street remained closed between Northeast 90th and 92nd Avenues until Wednesday morning. A broad investigation into the murder and the officer-involved shooting in ongoing. Police have not released the names of anyone involved in the incidents, including the officer or officers who fired on the man with a gun. More details are expected to be released as the investigation continues. |
