Teen was leading a double life on MySpace

SALEM, Ore. - A Salem family is fearing for their daughter's safety after learning that she has been lying on MySpace about her age.

It wasn't until after 13-year-old Melissa Gregory ran away from home that her parents found out what she was doing online.

Her parents say their daughter secretly snuck off around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday and told one friend she had met a man online and was going to Washington or California.

Her cell phone is now dead and her parents said Cricket would not be able to print out numbers for the last few calls she made for a couple of weeks.

Her parents also have a warning about keeping an eye on what your kids are doing online.

"If you have a child and they're on the Internet - check. Check everything. You can have a trusting, loving child but don't trust them - still check," said Jason and Tana Gregory, Melissa's parents.

Anyone with information about Melissa Gregory's whereabouts is asked to call the Salem Police Department.
