GRAND RONDE, Ore. - Authorities said a father and son shot each other during a fight at their Grand Ronde home Friday evening.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, 47-year-old James Wright was taken by LifeFlight to a Corvallis hospital before being transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

His son, 25-year-old Jeremy Wright, was taken to a McMinnville hospital by ambulance following the shooting.

Both were expected to survive.

Investigators believe alcohol may have escalated the argument between the pair at the home at 27650 Andy Riggs Road shortly before 9 p.m.

According to the Salem Statesman-Journal, James Wright shot his son in the right thigh and another bullet grazed his son's head. The younger man then grabbed the handgun from his father and shot the older man in the chest.

It was not immediately clear what the fight was about.

Police recovered a handgun at the home.
