By Margy Lynch and KATU Web StaffLAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - A woman stands accused of stealing the identity of an 89-year-old Lake Oswego resident and charging as much as $100,000 in the victim's name, authorities said. Ghada Ibraham-El Mosalamy, 34, of Tualatin, is charged with identity theft, forgery and aggravated theft, according to Lake Oswego police. She was arrested Friday following the execution of a search warrant at a home in Tualatin, police said. Inside the home, authorities found thousands of dollars worth of property believed to have been bought as part of the fraud, police said. That included two plane tickets to Egypt, a widescreen television and three laptops. Macy's apparently alerted the victim's family to the fraud. Police took the initial theft report in January. Investigators believe there are other victims in the case. Police declined to say how the elderly woman's identity was stolen. The suspect was described as a caregiver for the elderly. |
