ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) - Remember that old safe that was found not so long ago, deep in the bowels of a fish cannery in Astoria?

Plenty of people speculated about what might be inside, even as a locksmith had to be called in to crack the code.

Was it gold, emeralds, diamonds, rubies or just stacks of cash?

Turns out, it was none of the above.

Instead, Floyd Holcom of the J.O. Hanthorn Cannery Foundation tells Oregon Public Broadcasting, it was full to the brim with canned fish.

Holcom thinks it's salmon, but he's not sure - and there aren't too many volunteers willing to taste the fish.

The safe itself is more than 100 years old.

But Holcom thinks the fish isn't more than a few decades old.
