BEND, Ore. - A man who used to be a woman but retained female reproductive organs after a sex change operation has given birth to a baby girl.

Thomas Beatie, 34, legally became a man 10 years ago after a having a gender changing operation. He is married to a woman.

In early 2008, he announced he was pregnant and later produced photos showing a pronounced belly.

The story garnered international attention.

According to ABC News, Beatie reportedly checked into a hospital under an assumed name and gave birth Thursday. The baby girl is reportedly healthy.
