Pimp forced girl, 15, to make $1,000 a day as a prostitute

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Bloods gang member who forced an Oregon 15-year-old to make $1,000 a day as a prostitute was sentenced Friday to almost six years in prison.

United States District Court Judge Garr M. King sentenced Deandre Travon Green, 25, of Aloha, Ore., to 70 months in prison and three years of supervised release for the crime of Transportation of an Individual for Illegal Sexual Activity.

Green pleaded guilty on April 28.

“The prostitution of a minor, by both her pimp as well as the ‘johns’ taking advantage of her, is a crime that offends all standards of civility,” said U.S. Attorney Karin J. Immergut. “Simply put, this defendant profited from the sexual abuse of a child.”

Green, a Denver Lanes Bloods gang member, met the 15-year-old female victim in Portland, Ore., in March 2007. He recruited her to work as a prostitute for him in the area.

Green explained to the victim that this was a business and that she was to respect him as her pimp and give him all of her money.

While working as a prostitute for Green, the victim was required to make $1,000 a day.

When the victim started having second thoughts, Green told her, “I know where you live and your family lives. I will kill you and your family if you say anything to anybody. You’re mine now,” according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Due to concerns for her own safety, the victim continued to work as a prostitute for the defendant. The prostitution activities were set up either by working on “the street” or through advertisements on the Web site Craigslist.com.

In the middle of May 2007, the defendant took the victim to California, and then later to Arizona and Nevada and then once again back to California to work as a prostitute.

When she protested, the defendant would threaten her and her family. The victim was rescued in August 2007 when she and the defendant were both arrested in Los Angeles.

The case was investigated by the Beaverton Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Scott Kerin.
