EUGENE, Ore. -- A 2 1/2-year-old boy died Monday after reportedly falling while playing at a private residence on Cinnamon Avenue.

The sheriff’s office responded to a report of an injured child at 5:22 p.m. Monday.

The boy was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. 

The child was injured at private residence providing child care for the boy. The child reportedly suffered a fall injury while playing. 

Lane County Sheriff’s Office detectives are continuing the investigation of the child’s death.
