Three charged over horse malnourishment

SCIO, Ore. -- Three people face charges of animal neglect after the Linn County Sheriff responded to a report of malnourished horses on a property in Scio.

The sheriff’s office found seven horses in a pasture not quite two acres in size. Four of the horses were found to be healthy but the remaining three were malnourished and in poor condition.

Those three were examined by a local veterinarian. The two geldings and a mare were seized for malnourishment and neglect.

The property owner had allowed the horses to be boarded on the property but was not responsible for the care of the horses, according to the sheriff.

The three owners of the horses were arrested for misdemeanor Animal Neglect II. Tammy Mae Adair-Snyder, 44, Mark Kevin Mask, 46, and Walter Lee Eaton, 38, all from Scio, were taken to the Linn County Jail where they were booked and released. | READ THE LAW
