Parents of Tigard teen shot by police file lawsuit

TIGARD, Ore. (AP) - The parents of a Tigard teen who was shot to death by police in 2006 have filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit.

The Oregonian reports that Hope and Brad Glenn, the parents of Lukus Glenn, filed the suit against Washington County, the two deputies who shot their son, the city of Tigard and a Tigard police officer.

A Washington County district attorney's office investigation into the shooting called the incident "tragic" but "legally justified."

On the night of the shooting, Hope Glenn had called 911 pleading for help with her son, who was intoxicated and threatening himself and others with a knife outside their home.

A Tigard police officer who responded with two deputies fired six bean bag rounds at Lukus but failed to stop him.

A review of the incident said officers feared for the Glenn family's safety after the teenager bolted for the front door.
