Crews put down three Gresham arson fires
By Valerie Hurst and KATU Web StaffNEAR GRESHAM, Ore. – Gresham fire crews have returned to a property near the city limits three times in a 24-hour period to put out structure fires, according to a spokesman. Fire officials said that after a travel trailer and then a barn went up in flames on Wednesday, they had power cut to the property to protect the firefighters. They didn’t have to wait long to return once again. Early Thursday morning, crews returned to the property on Southeast Orient Drive to find a home on the property fully engulfed. Crews set up a perimeter and let the home burn to the ground rather than try to save it. Only a garage still stands on the property, and fire officials said they informed the owner that it should be knocked down. Neighbors have called police to the site several times in the past after spotting minors in the abandoned home. No injuries were reported at any of the fires.
