BEAVERTON, Ore. - A woman was killed early Sunday when the car she was in crashed into an unoccupied van parked along the side of Highway 26 in Beaverton, police said.

Beaverton police identified the woman as 33-year-old Maria Vasquez-Raya.

According to police, her husband, 31-year-old Salvador Barajas-Negrete, was driving her and their two children west on the highway about 5:15 a.m. when for an unknown reason their Subaru struck the van just east of Southwest 185th Avenue.

The entire family was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment. Police said Vasquez-Raya suffered critical head injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital while the father and two kids, ages 5 and 2, were listed in stable condition Sunday.

Westbound lanes of Highway 26 were closed until noon between 185th and Cornell/Bethany.

Police were still investigating the cause of the wreck.
