OREGON CITY, Ore. - Police said a drunk driver ran a stop sign and crashed into a car in Oregon City Saturday night, killing a woman.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. when a Toyota 4Runner speeding east on Ave Davis Road failed to stop at the intersection with Linn Avenue and crashed into the passenger side of a Toyota Camry, according to Oregon City police.

The Camry was pushed into a telephone pole while the 4Runner ended up on its side.

The passenger in the Camry, 26-year-old Kay Blaser, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police initially said she was two months pregnant but the medical examiner determined she was not.

Her fiance, 22-year-old William Sargent, who was driving the Camry, was taken to Oregon Health and Science University for treatment of neck, back and clavicle injuries, police said. Both were from Oregon City.

The driver of the 4Runner, 22-year-old Fernando Deanda Moreno of Portland, as well as another passenger in that vehicle were also taken to OHSU for treatment, police said.

Upon his release at noon Sunday, Moreno was lodged in the Clackamas County jail on charges of second-degree manslaughter and two counts of second-degree assault, police said. Investigators determined he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck, police said.
