TIGARD, Ore. - A man who responded to an advertisement on Craigslist ended up being bound, beaten and robbed in his Tigard home Tuesday night, police said.

Investigators did not say what the advertisement was about, but it brought a man and a woman to the victim's home on Southwest Morning Hill Drive about 10 p.m.

The homeowner, who was alone, was beaten with a handgun shortly after the couple arrived. He was also bound with tape and plastic ties at some point, police said.

Despite the attack, the resident, whose name was not released, tried in vain to stop the couple from stealing his truck. Authorities later found it abandoned near Mary Woodward Elementary School in Tigard.

It was not clear if the pair stole anything else.

The resident was treated at an area hospital for his injuries.

Anyone with information was asked to call Det. Kevin Dresser at (503) 718-2576.
