Portland man linked to child sex abuse at YMCA
By Adam Ghassemi KATU News and KATU.com Web StaffBEAVERTON, Ore. – Police are searching for any other possible victims after a 67-year-old man was linked to the "inappropriate touching" of a 9-year-old at the Beaverton Family YMCA over the weekend. According to police, the child's mother called authorities about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to report her son was touched in the locker room by a man at the YMCA at 4925 S.W. Griffith Drive. Police said they questioned the suspect Saturday and then arrested him on Sunday morning. Philip Leland Riley of Portland is facing first-degree sodomy and sex abuse charges. Investigators said both Riley and the boy were guests of the club. YMCA officials issued a statement saying Riley has been suspended from all of their facilities until the investigation is complete and that they are conducting their own internal investigation. Police said they are seeking the public's help because sex abuse cases historically can have other victims. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to call Detective Andler at (503) 526-2285. |
