Fisherman finds body near St. Helens

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ore. - Authorities are trying to identify a body found floating Sunday in the Columbia River near St. Helens.

A fisherman discovered the body shortly before 2 p.m. on the Washington state side of Sand Island, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

County marine deputies responded and recovered the remains in what was described as extremely foggy conditions.

The sheriff's office did not describe the sex, approximate age or condition of the body.

No more information was immediately released.
