Oregon State Police released this photo of the crash scene. By KATU.com Web StaffBEAVER, Ore. - A southeast Portland woman was found dead inside a car that ran off a coastal highway, plunged down a 30-foot embankment and landed upside down in the Little Nestucca River, authorities said. Oregon State Police identified the woman as 38-year-old Charlee Maxine Russo. According to state police, those inside a passing school bus spotted the car in the river about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in an area off Highway 130 about three miles east of Highway 101. Investigators believe the car was heading east on the highway when the vehicle failed to go around a right turn and instead drove straight off the highway and down the embankment, state police said. Russo had been visiting a relative in Cloverdale Monday night and may have been driving back to Portland when she crashed. |
