PORTLAND, Ore. - A young boy had to be treated in the hospital with bites after a family pet described as 'friendly' turned on him.
The boy's injuries were minor and he is expected to make a full recovery.
The attack took place Tuesday on Northeast 178th Avenue in Portland.
A neighbor's Pit Bull terrier, named Kahlua, was reportedly running loose when it attacked Oscar Romero-Garcia.
The boy suffered several bites all over his body.
Medical personnel treated the wounds with bandages and he was released to his parents.
A friend of the victim, Cory Fivecoats, was with him when the dog attacked.
"I was just standing still because I didn't want to get bit. And Oscar was just running and screaming because he was scared," Fivecoats said after the incident.
Kahlua's owner says the dog is playful around her 3-year-old daughter, and that it runs around with kids in the apartment complex.
Gresham police say the investigation is ongoing.
A police spokesman says it is going to be up to the county animal control to determine any charges and decide the Pit Bull's fate.
