PORTLAND, Ore. - Four people lost their lives in multiple traffic accidents around the Portland/Vancouver area Wednesday.

Several other people suffered injuries and were taken to local hospitals.

A man was killed Tuesday afternoon while riding his motorcycle near the 14500 block of North Valley Road in Yamhill County, about a mile south of Flett Road.

Preliminary reports indicate a car crossed over the center of the road and hit the motorcyclist and then hit two other vehicles.

The next fatal accident took place just after 12:20 a.m. Wednesday in Hillsboro.

Police say a person driving a truck that left the road was killed on Highway 219 near Moridon Lane. No other vehicles were apparently involved.

Police have not released the gender or any other information about the victim or the accident circumstances.

Hours later, a woman was killed when her vehicle rolled near La Center, Washington.

Police say the woman's truck rolled over near 9th Street and Northwest Pacific Highway near the city of La Center.

Initial reports from accident investigators indicate the woman was the only person in the truck and no other vehicles were involved.

Police have not said if the woman was using safety restraints.

Pacific Highway was closed Wednesday morning while crews removed the wreckage and officers investigated the accident.

The woman's identity has not been released pending the notification of relatives, and an investigation into that accident is continuing.

Back in Portland, East Precinct police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at Northeast 112th Avenue and Northeast Marine Drive about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A vehicle traveling eastbound on Marine Drive appears to have crossed the center line and hit a vehicle traveling westbound. The driver of the westbound vehicle, a female, died at the scene.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a female, and a 2-year old child were both transported to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been released.

Finally, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a reported rollover accident on Highway 26 near Cornelius Pass Road around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival they found a light-duty roofing contractor truck with two occupants inside. Both victims needed assistance to be removed from the vehicle, but their injuries were not life threatening.

Highway 26 was shut down until cleanup was completed. Traffic was rerouted over Cornelius Pass Road.
