Heavy snow closes I-84 near Baker City, Hwy 6 closed to clear snow

Blizzard-like conditions throughout the Grande Ronde Valley in Union County have resulted in road closures due to limited visibility and snow drifts.

Interstate 84 is closed both eastbound and westbound between La Grande and Baker City. Oregon Highway 237 is closed between Island City and Cove (Cove Hwy.) and between Union and North Powder through Pyles Canyon.

Driving conditions throughout the Grande Ronde Valley are extremely hazardous and travelers are advised to stay home until the storm passes and road conditions improve.

Oregon 6, the Wilson River Highway, is closed until about noon today to allow ODOT crews to remove snow, ice and slush from the roadway. The closure begins at Banks (milepost 49) and runs past the summit (milepost 33). Motorists heading to or from the coast should use alternate routes.
