Mayor decides now isn't the time for a bag tax

PORTLAND, Ore. - Mayor Sam Adams says our struggling economy is leading him to forget his idea of taxing grocery bags.

The mayor wanted to charge 5 to 20 cents per plastic or paper bag to encourage shoppers to use reusable cloth sacks.

Adams now says that with the economy the way it is, this is not the time to add a new tax.
