PORTLAND, Ore. - A woman was killed Friday morning on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard near 17th Avenue when she was struck by a car.

The incident closed the busy thoroughfare in both directions just after 6 a.m. McLoughlin Boulevard is also the route for Highway 99 East.

The woman who died has been identified as 29-year-old Carlene Nanatte Jones of southeast Portland.

The driver of the car that hit Jones has been identified as 57-year-old Jerry Michael Connor of St. Helens. Police say he cooperated with them after the incident and has not been charged with any crime. Police say it appears Jones was crossing the road against the light.

Police initially tried to have the northbound lanes back open by 8 a.m., but later revised that time frame to 9 a.m. All lanes reopened about 9:30 a.m.
