Man arrested after fatal wreck near Sandy
SANDY, Ore. — The driver of a vehicle involved in a weekend crash that killed an Eagle Creek mother and daughter has been arrested on charges unrelated to the wreck.

The Oregon State Police says 18-year-old Matthew Ingle of Estacada was taken to the Clackamas County Jail following his release from a Portland hospital Monday. He is charged with burglary, felony attempt to elude an officer, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person.

Those charges stem from two separate incidents. In one, Ingle is accused of eluding deputies while on an all-terrain vehicle on the streets of Estacada last November. In the second incident, he is accused of breaking into the Estacada Laundromat on April 2.

Clackamas deputies had been searching for Ingle for some time when on Saturday he was behind the wheel of an SUV that collided with a Toyota Corolla at an intersection west of Sandy. The Corolla driver — 42-year-old Pamela Benson — died at the scene and her 11-year-old daughter, Clarice, died at OHSU Hospital.

According to the state police, witnesses reported that Ingle failed to stop for a red light.

However, he has not been charged in connection with the wreck.
