MANNING, Ore. - A gruesome discovery of two bodies found on a driveway this morning has authorities investigating a possible double homicide in a rural area off Highway 26.

A resident discovered the bodies about 7:45 a.m. on the side of his driveway, which is located off the highway near Northwest Scofield Road, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

"He has no idea who these people may be," said Sgt. Dave Shook, a sheriff's office spokesman.

The bodies are both middle-aged white men whose identities were unknown Sunday, the sheriff's office said. They were found about 25 yards from the highway.

Some people at the scene told KATU that they saw a pair of bloody pants and a bloody T-shirt tossed alongside the highway near the scene.

The investigation caused intermittent traffic delays along the highway as police closed and reopened lanes while investigating the scene.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone who saw something suspicious on the highway between the Manning area and the Sunset tunnel to call detectives at (503)-846-2500.
