A Honda Accord sits on its top following a wreck Friday night north of Mount Angel.
NEAR MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. - Two teenagers involved in a double fatal wreck north of Mount Angel Friday night remained in critical condition Sunday, authorities said.
The wreck happened about 10:45 p.m. as a 1991 Ford van heading south on Highway 214 passed through the intersection at Northeast Monitor-McKee Road Northeast and collided with the passenger side of a 1997 Honda Accord containing six teens, Oregon State Police said.
The Honda's driver, 20-year-old Simon Alagoz of Hubbard, suffered non-life-threatening injuries while two of his five passengers were killed. State police identified them as 19-year-old Alexei Michael Alagoz and 15-year-old Anya Cherinishoff, both of Hubbard.
Two other passengers, 15-year-old Michael Avgi of Woodburn and 16-year-old Zinavi Ivanoff of Canby, were taken to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, where they were listed in critical condition Sunday.
Another passenger, 17-year-old Anthony Mametieff of Mount Angel, was listed in fair condition Sunday at Salem Hospital.
The driver of the Ford van, 39-year-old Francisco Pedraza Velazquez of Mount Angel, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, state police said. He was driving alone.
Authorities were still investigating the cause of the crash, but they did say the intersection is controlled by a stop sign for traffic on Monitor-McKee Road Northeast.
Neither those killed nor those in critical condition were wearing seatbelts, state police said. It was not immediately clear whether Mametieff was wearing one, authorities said.
