Man missing after heading out for fishing trip

CORNELIUS, Ore. - Police in Cornelius are searching for a 53-year-old man who disappeared after leaving for a weekend fishing trip.

William R. Peterson has been missing since Saturday, June 6. 

According to police, he had left for an overnight fishing trip to an unknown location.  He has been known to frequent the Detroit Lake area, Fay Lake in Linn County, Hagg Lake in Washington County and various waterways in Yamhill County. 

Peterson was driving a blue Nissan Frontier XE Crew Cab with Oregon license plate number 921 CYU (similar to the one pictured at right).

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cornelius Police Department at (503) 359-1881 or Washington County Dispatch at (503) 629-0111.

  • 6 feet tall
  • Approximately 190 pounds
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Takes medication for diabetes
