BEAVERTON, Ore. - Police on Sunday were searching for a heavyset man who is accused of assaulting a MAX fare inspector who removed him from the light rail train for failing to pay for the ride.

The suspect was removed from the train at the Beaverton Central MAX Station at 4005 S.W. Watson Ave. about 5:45 p.m. and allegedly assaulted the fare inspector on the platform before leaving, according to a Beaverton police spokeswoman.

Police said the suspect, identified as Bragonia Anderson, 35, also had an open container of alcohol with him. He is still on the loose, according to police.

TriMet transported the fare inspector to a nearby hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury, she said. He reportedly had a broken collarbone.

Police said the suspect reportedly told the fare inspector that if he was going to get a citation, he might as well go to jail. The assault took place at that point, according to police.

The fare inspector reportedly does not recall the incident.
