Police: McMinnville man killed father, then himself
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) — The deaths of a father and son in McMinnville have been ruled a murder-suicide.
Capt. Dennis Marks of the McMinnville Police Department said an autopsy performed Monday determined that 22-year-old Sean Marshall died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The conclusion, combined with evidence at the scene, has led investigators to decide that Marshall shot his father, Thomas, in the head and then killed himself.
The bodies of Sean and Thomas Marshall were discovered in an apartment on Independence Day. The father would have turned 59 on Monday.
Police did not say whether they had any idea what motivated the son to shoot his father.
