Portland man charged in bizarre attack on soap star
UNDATED - A Portland man is behind bars in California after being charged with attacking a soap opera star.
Carl Cheney is accused of assaulting Drake Hogestyn, who plays John Black on 'Days of Our Lives.'
Hogestyn says Cheney was screaming religious passages while trying to physically exorcise the devil from him.
In a restraining order filed Wednesday, Hogestyn wrote "this sick person, Carl Raymond Cheney, believed that Satan was in me and that he was the Christ."
The complaint went on to say "the struggle continued for ten minutes until my son and I were able to duct tape his hands and feet."
On the soap opera, Hogestyn's character John Black was possessed by spirits at one point.
