OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - A deadlocked jury wrapped up a fifth day of deliberations without a verdict Wednesday in the trial of an Oregon couple whose young daughter died after they relied on faith healing instead of medicine.

The jury was expected to resume deliberations Thursday morning in the case of Raylene and Carl Brent Worthington.

The couple are charged with manslaughter and criminal mistreatment in the death of their 15-month-old daughter, Ava Worthington, in March 2008.

The case is the first time believers in faith healing have gone to trial since the Oregon Legislature limited any religious defense to child neglect charges in 1999.
