County weighs vehicle registration fee
MULTNOMAH
COUNTY, Ore. -- Multnomah County Commissioners could vote as soon as October to institute Oregon's first county-wide vehicle registration fee.
Proceeds would go toward replacing the Sellwood Bridge.
A new Oregon state law allows the county to charge a fee without a public vote, if the money goes toward a bridge. The county is considering a fee of $12 to $18, in addition to state registration fees.
We're told that Clackamas County might follow Multnomah County's lead.
