Armed robbery in Albany, suspects on loose

The following is a press release from Albany police.

On October 14, 2009, at approximately 12:50 a.m., the Albany Police Department responded to AJ's Haus located at 1123 SE Santiam Highway on the report of an armed robbery. The lone employee on duty at AJ's Haus, a local tavern/lottery retailer, told police she had been robbed.

The employee reported that two male suspects, both wearing ski masks, entered the business and demanded money. The employee reported that one of the suspects was armed with a knife and the other with a bat. The suspects were in the business for several minutes during which time they ordered the employee to open the register.

During the robbery the employee was told she would be shot if she did not comply. One of the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register after which time both suspects left the area on foot. There was one patron in the business at the time of the robbery.

Video surveillance viewed at the scene shows one suspect was a male adult, approximately 5'8" in height, with a stocky build. He was wearing black athletic shorts, an orange t-shirt with the word "Pain" printed on the front, and black shoes. This suspect also had tattoos on his left forearm and a tattoo on his right calve.

Once the video surveillance is obtained from the AJ's Haus it will be made available to news media. Surveillance photos of the suspects are attached to this press release.
