PORTLAND, Ore. - Firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire in a union hall in southeast Portland.
The fire started just after 5 a.m. Friday morning at the Service Employees International Union hall on Southeast 26th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard.
Firefighters were able to put it out in under half an hour and kept the fire confined to one room. No one was hurt in the fire.
A worker at the scene said some employees work space was unusable. The building is located close to Cleveland High School but the school day and traffic was not expected to be affected.
The cause is under investigation.
