PORTLAND, Ore. - Police are looking for several suspects involved in a shooting inside a home in North Portland.

The shooting took place at about 6 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 9400 block of North Bristol Avenue. The identity of the victim has not been released. Police did say that the victim was a 44-year-old male and knew his attackers.

The victim was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He reportedly told police that several people broke into his home and shot him.

Neighbors said it was no surprise that something bad happened at the home.

“It just seemed like a lot of traffic over there, and we just stay on our side of the street,” said Tony Pope.

Some neighbors said they took some comfort in learning the suspects and victim knew each other because it lessened their fears of being at risk for a random invasion.

They said with problems at the rental home in the past, they even sent a letter to the home’s owner to let that person know what’s going on.

“We don’t want that in our neighborhood,” said Pope. “I don’t know what’s going on over there - a lot of traffic. I don’t want to be involved in that.”

With stolen cars and drug activity in the area in the past, some are glad that this time the incident didn’t claim a life.

“I’m just really glad to know he’s still alive and hopefully he’s doing better,” said neighbor Francesca Berrini.

An investigation is under way. No information on the suspects has been released.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Portland police.
