VANCOUVER, Wash. – Two 21-year-old women were killed and another woman was seriously injured when a vehicle heading the wrong way crashed head-on into another car near here early Sunday.

Police identified the pair killed as Jessica H. Blanck and Kristyne E. Shaddix, both of Camas. Police said Blanck is the daughter of Portland Police Officer Rob Blanck.

Blanck and her passenger, Shaddix, died at the scene.

The pair had gone out Saturday night to celebrate Shaddix's birthday and were on their way home when the crash occurred, police said.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 37-year-old Theresa M. Nickelby of Vancouver was driving a 1994 Plymouth Voyager the wrong way on eastbound State Route 14 when she collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Blanck just east of Grand about 3 a.m.

Nickelby suffered serious internal and leg injuries and was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, police said.

Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the collision. The highway was closed for more than four hours.
