Police 'no-confidence vote' results expected Monday in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Ballots were due Friday from members of the Portland Police union for a no-confidence vote on the police bureau's chief, Rosie Sizer, and Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman, who oversees the bureau.

The vote was called after Chief Sizer and Police Commissioner Saltzman suspended officer Chris Humphreys over a recent incident at a MAX station.

Humphreys can be seen in a security camera video firing a beanbag gun at a 12-year-old girl at close range. Humphreys is also one of the officers involved in the police custody death of a mentally ill man, James Chasse, back in 2006. Humphreys was not charged with any crime in that incident.

The police union claims Humphreys acted according to his training in both incidents and is being hung out to dry by the chief and Saltzman.

Police union members and supporters held a public rally in support of Humphreys earlier in the week. About 700 people attended.

Both Chief Sizer and Commissioner Saltzman released statements related to the incidents and upcoming vote.

Results of the no-confidence vote will be released Monday.
