FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Two people were found dead and a third was airlifted by helicopter to OHSU Friday evening after a shooting occurred near the edge of a college campus in Forest Grove.
Police responded to the corner of 21st Avenue and Cedar Street in Forest Grove, which borders the Pacific University campus.
Forest Grove police said it appears the shooting is a murder-suicide. Police found one dead female victim and one dead male, both described as adults. No ages or identities for the deceased were released.
Police said the dead male appeared to be the shooter and they are not looking for any suspects. A spokesperson for Pacific University said school officials have no reason to believe, at this time, that the shooting had anything to do with the school.
"We are aware of the situation and are staying in contact with police," said Pacific University's director of public relations, Joe Lang. The LifeFlight helicopter landed in a field a few blocks away from the campus.
The person who was injured was not identified. The extent of that person's injuries also was not detailed by investigators.
A suspect vehicle was reportedly found blocks away from the crime scene. Police said the vehicle is a red Dodge pickup, with Oregon license plate ZCZ 067.
Police said there is evidence that the shooter broke into this Forest Grove home. They believe he shot two people at the home with a .357 Magnum, then turned the gun on himself.
