PORTLAND, Ore. - Local motorcyclists will hold a benefit ride for the family of Daniel Newell on Saturday.

Newell died when he crashed his motorcycle into a jersey barrier above the Morrison Bridge in Portland.

The motorcycle and Newell both fell from the bridge. Newell died at the scene. He was reportedly on his way home from a 300-mile ride with some friends when the accident took place.

Members of the Full Tilt Riders club and other local motorcyclists plan to meet at Beaverton Honda/Yamaha off Highway 217 for a short ride that will include a pass by the accident scene. The ride leaves the parking lot at 11:00 a.m.

Newell left behind six children. Organizers of the ride are asking for a minimum donation of $10 before the ride leaves. Newell's sister and brother-in-law are expected to attend.

Newell was laid to rest June 1.
