Pedestrian killed in crash in Aloha
ALOHA, Ore. – Police said a man was killed Wednesday night in Aloha after he stepped into the traffic and was struck by a car.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Gabriel Juhani Karkkainen of Aloha. The collision took place near the corner of Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway and Southwest 209th Avenue.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old Aloha resident, stopped and cooperated with police. No citations were issued.
Police said Karkkainen was wearing dark clothing and was not in a designated or marked crosswalk. He may have been trying to visit a person working at a Christmas tree lot.
Police said the driver appeared to be going the speed limit and he was not hurt in the crash.
