KALAMA, Wash. - Problems at the Kalama water reservoir has led authorities to issue an emergency water use order restricting water use by city residents.

Officials said broken pipes and mechanical failures emptied the 2-million-gallon reservoir, leaving the city without water.

Many water bureau customers reportedly have already run out of water. The city is urging people to limit water use to emergencies only.

Officials said residents need to immediately shut off the electrical breaker to their hot water tanks to prevent damage.

Kalama schools also are closed Monday because of the water problem.

Crews are working to fix the problem affecting the water supply but officials said residents won't have water for most of the day Monday.
