Southeast Portland standoff ends peacefully
PORTLAND, Ore. - A standoff with police ended peacefully Monday night after a woman barricaded herself in a house with a loaded handgun.
Police got a call at about 3:30 p.m. about a disturbance at a home in the 3900 block of Southeast 34th near Gladstone Street.
When police arrived they discovered a 53-year-old woman in the home who was armed and possibly suicidal.
The SERT team was brought in as well as crisis negotiators.
Police evacuated some neighbors and shut down several blocks of Gladstone.
They made contact with her throughout the day and at about 8 p.m. the SERT team was able to get her to come outside peacefully.
No one was hurt.
