PORTLAND, Ore. - A driver smashed his car into a landmark Portland restaurant early Tuesday morning and police believe alcohol contributed to the crash.

Police said the driver heavily damaged his car and the well-known Chinese restaurant Hung Far Low near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Division Street. The crash took place at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Joe A. Navarro, was arrested and booked on DUI and reckless driving charges.

Hung Far Low was located in the heart of Portland's China Town for decades before moving to its present location on 82nd Avenue.

There was no immediate damage estimate for the restaurant.
