Student claims further anti-Semitism at UO
EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon campus may have been hit with another incident of racially-tinged hostility, according to new reports.
Campus officials said someone posted a note with an anti-Semitic message on a student's locker. The note was found Thursday morning in its School of Architecture and Allied Arts, and University of Oregon's Dean sent out a student-wide memo about it later this week. However, Senior Director of Communications Phil Weiler said the student destroyed the note.
Just days earlier, someone painted a black swastika on the carpet of a campus gay and lesbian organization. That prompted a candlelight vigil and march in support of tolerance.
University officials said it is too early to tell whether the incidents are related. Anyone with information is advised to call campus police at (541) 346-2919.
