Skier-beating suspect pleads guilty, will testify against dad
STEVENSON, Wash. – The trial for a man accused of beating a cross-country skier nearly to death begins tomorrow in Skamania County.
Michael Collins is charged with first-degree attempted murder and robbery. He faces life in prison without parole.
His 17-year-old son Teven has agreed testify against him.
Our news partners at The Columbian newspaper in Vancouver report that Teven has already pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the second degree. Along with that plea Teven agreed to be a prosecution witness.
The father and son are accused of brutally beating Kevin Tracey as he skied along the Washougal River a year ago. The two were caught in Mexico after being featured on "America's Most Wanted."
