Man arrested after allegedly raping friend's sleeping mother

WOODLAND, Wash. - A Vancouver man was arrested March 17 by Woodland Police officers on charges of second-degree rape after he stayed the night at his friend's house and then allegedly raped his friend's mother.

David Delane Ferman Stiffler, 22, was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on $50,000 bail.

The alleged crime ocurred before a 41-year-old Woodland woman told police that on or about March 2, she had been raped at her Woodland home by Stiffler, a friend of her son. The woman told police she had been asleep and under the influence of a sleeping pill and that when she awoke, she found Stiffler, who was staying the night at the house, raping her. She also told police that Stiffler was again at her residence and she was afraid of him.

After police interviewed Stiffler, police arrested him with probable cause to arrest him on the second-degree rape charge.
