PORTLAND, Ore. - A popular downtown Portland night club has lost its liquor license and according to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, it is not likely the owners will ever get another one in the state of Oregon.
H20 is located at Southwest Third and Taylor, in an area that in recent years has been the scene of fights and even the murder of a homeless man.
However, the OLCC said that is not the reason they look the club's license away, but rather it was due to a number of violations dating back to 2004. The violations include:
- False statements made to the OLCC
- Allowing a minor on the premises
- Not verifying the age of a minor
- Covering up a 'No Minors Allowed' sign
The OLCC said it rarely takes liquor licenses away and that is was clear H20 was not interested in following liquor laws.
"If everybody's in compliance, then you don't have these kind of problems and then one or two get out of compliance, then that just adds to the other problems that are already there - the large crowd and things like that," said Ken Palke with the OLCC.
H20 can stay open, but can only serve food. It is unknown whether the club plans on opening its doors this weekend.
