TULARE, Calif. (AP) - Kraft Foods has voluntarily recalled its Knudsen cottage cheese in seven states including Oregon and Washington, but says it won't make people sick - it just doesn't taste right.
The cartons affected include nonfat, low fat and small curd cottage cheese, and low fat cottage cheese with pineapple bearing a ''sell-by'' date of August 31st or earlier.
The cheese, processed in Tulare, California, was spoiling before that date.
Kraft says purchasers should call Kraft for reimbursement, then discard the carton.
The company is investigating what went wrong.
Kraft says the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was not told of the recall because it was voluntary, and the problem was one of quality rather than safety.
