'John Doe' OLCC manager coming back to Ore.

PORTLAND, Ore. – KATU has learned the Oregon Liquor Control Commission investigator accused of stealing the identity of a murdered Ohio boy will appear in a Portland courtroom Thursday.

Federal prosecutors said the man, who calls himself Jason Evers, started using the little boy's identity in 1996. The regional OLCC manager, who was stationed in Bend before complaints caused the OLCC to move him to Medford, worked for the OLCC for eight years.

Evers was apprehended in Idaho after applying for a passport and using copy of a birth certificate that belonged to a Jason Evers. A U.S. Attorney tells KATU they tracked the birth certificate to a 3 year old in Cincinnati who died in 1982.

The Ohio boy died in a case involving kidnapping and involuntary manslaughter. A man already has been convicted for those acts, and the family continues to fight to keep him behind bars.

The man now known as "John Doe, aka Jason Evers" on court documents is no longer being held in Boise jail, according to our news sources there. The U.S. Marshals Service reported Evers would be in federal court in Portland at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, to face charges.
