FOREST GROVE, Ore. - A 16-year-old girl died early Saturday from injuries sustained when her car collided with a fuel truck near Forest Grove a day earlier.

Oregon State Police identified the teen killed as Kaylee Tawzer of Hillsboro.

According to state police, Tawzer was trying to turn her 2006 Toyota Corolla left from Verbort Road onto the southbound lane of Highway 47 about 3:30 p.m. Friday when she pulled out in front of an oncoming fuel truck and was struck in the driver's side.

State police said firefighters removed her from the car, and she was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, where she eventually died.

Police said she was using a seat belt and her car's airbags worked.

The driver of the fuel truck, 60-year-old John Carlson of Gaston, was not injured, state police said.

State police were still investigating the crash Saturday.
